Football
Season 2025 saw Anakie Football Netball Club mark 100 years at our DeMotts Rd home, which was celebrated with an anniversary game vs Bannockburn and a gala night to honour teams of the century in both football and netball at Buckley’s.
The offield celebrations were matched on field with our senior side reaching finals for the first time since 1998. After dropping consecutive games to Corio and Geelong West in Round 12 & 13 a finals chance looked to have been squandered, but the Roos peeled off 5 straight wins to finish 4th on the ladder before going down to Bell Post Hill in the Elimination Final.
GDFNL honours saw Luke Dahlhaus(captain), Oscar Barter and Andrew Boseley making the GDFNL Team of the Year. Boseley also collecting Wayne Tyquin Medal leading goalkicker award, runner up in Neville Whitley Medal and Routleys Mark of the Year for his Elimination Final screamer, while Barter was awarded best on ground medal by the ColacDFNL in the thrilling interleague win
Our Reserves side battled in 2025 with constant mass changes in personnel making consistency very hard to find. Hayden Leech finished the year with a 6th placing in the Ivan Tansing Medal count
In 2025 Anakie also fielded a combined Under 18 team with Bannockburn and a standalone Under 16 side which made a preliminary final, with Adam Jervies winning league best & fairest..
Netball
Netball in 2025 was as busy and exciting as ever. All four junior teams were filled, with both the Under 15s and 17s reaching finals. A huge congratulations to our Under 15s, who made it all the way to the grand final. Although they went down by five goals to Bannockburn, it was a tough, high-quality game that made everyone at Anakie proud.
This season saw the introduction of our inaugural E Grade side, alongside continued growth in our senior program with A, B, C, and D Grades. With an U11 competition joining the GDFNL in 2026, next season is shaping up to be even bigger. The future of our club is shining bright.
E Grade battled through their debut season without a win but celebrated a well-deserved draw, while D Grade enjoyed their best year since COVID, finishing with five wins and a draw. From the outset, this group showed great spirit and connection.
C Grade also achieved their best result since COVID, recording four wins and showing continual improvement, resilience, and teamwork throughout the season.
For A and B Grade, 2025 was a year of rebuilding with a new-look squad. Despite the challenges, both teams matched their 2024 results and laid strong foundations for the future.
