About Us

The Anakie Football & Netball Club, located at the foothills of the Brisbane Ranges near Geelong, is a small rural country club with a rich history that has been an integral part of the local landscape.

A range of facilities exist at Anakie Reserve for members and players. These include the football oval with excellent grass surface and updated lighting, netball courts and social rooms with recently upgraded change rooms.

All Anakie netball teams and the senior football team compete in the GDFL competition. Junior football teams compete in AFL Barwon Junior competitions.

The Club’s junior development philosophy and policy is to ensure that all coaches at junior level are appropriately skilled and accredited so that junior players not only enjoy playing football, but are given every opportunity to reach their potential.

Senior teams are selected on merit; if junior players are capable of playing at a higher level, they will be given the opportunity to do so.

As part of its Junior Development Program, the Club hosts the very successful Auskick program which provides strong links with the local primary school and gives students a fun introduction to Australian Rules football.

The Club facilities and resources are always available to schools and other community organisations to use, such as the CFA who used the facilities as a staging area during the 2006 fires.

Looking to the future, it is hoped that all who are involved with the Club, in any capacity, enjoy the facilities and community within.
