The Anakie Football & Netball Club celebrated their 100^th season launch on Sunday and Anakie president Heath Menhennet was bestowed Life Membership of the Geelong and District Football Netball League.

In the past 15 years, besides pulling on the boots on a Saturday, there isn’t much that Heath hasn’t done for the Anakie Football Netball Club. His involvement began in the late 2000’s following the Anakie bushfires as Auskick coach (a role he has reprised in 2023). He quickly rose up the ranks joining the committee, becoming sponsorship coordinator, and eventually Vice President and President (which he has been since 2013). Heath is a tireless worker spreading himself around all roles and at all hours be it BBQ duties, manning the gate, umpiring junior football, helping in the kitchen and bar, chasing sponsors, running our hugely successful sportsman’s day and advocating for the club and its members wherever possible. Heath was the driving force behind the clubs long awaited, and much needed, redevelopment. New changerooms were built in 2017 and a state of the art social facility completed and opened in 2023, replacing our near 100 year old rooms to benefit not only our club but the whole community of the Anakie district. Heath’s passion for the club and determination to achieve what some would claim to be impossible is second to none. 

Heath was awarded AFNC life membership in 2021, GDFNL President's award in 2018 and also a GDFNL service award.’
